To configurea power management protocol foran IPD U:
This procedure assumes that an IPDU is physic ally connected t o the selected serial port.
1. Go to Ports - Physical Ports i n Expert mode,sel ect a port orp ortst o modify and click the
appropriate Modi fy Ports button. The Gen eral form appears.
2. Click the Genera l tab. The General form appears with the number(s) of the selected port(s)
next to the Do ne button at the bot tom of the form.
3. To change th e connection p rotocol, select Power Mana gement from the Connect ion
Protocol pull-down menu .
4. Enter a desired name for the IPDU in the Alias field .
5. Select an access method for the IPDU from the Allow A ccess by pull-down menu. The
options are SSH, Telne t or SSH and Telnet. Selec ting an access op tion activate s the Access
and Other ta bs.
6. Go to the Access tab.
a. Enter the users/groups aut horized to access the serial port.
b. Select an authenti cation type for the serial port from the pull-do wn menu.
NOTE: Authenticationtype None is not a valid option when th e serial port is configured for Power Management
connectionprotocol. The system defaults to Local if no authentication type is selected.

7. Select the Other tab .There are two fields: TCP Port and Port IP Alias.
a. A default TCP port number i s displayed in the TCP Port field. En ter an alternate po rt
number if you are overriding t he default.
b. In the IP Alias field, enter the IP address for the port for direct telnet or SSH access (the
same address used when the po rt is configured for consol e access).
NOTE: For the IP Alias address to w ork proper ly,you must select Allow Accessby Telnet or SSH or both in the
Generaltab fo rm.
