Also, work wit h the Kerberos server’s administrator to ensure th at following types of acco unts
are set up on the Kerberos server and that t he administrators of the console server and
connected dev ices know the passwords assigned to the accoun ts:
• A n account for admin
• If Kerberos a uthentication is specified for the consol e server, accounts will be needed for
all users who need to log in to t he console server to administer connected devices
• If Kerberos a uthentication is specified for the serial po rts, accounts will be needed for users
who need ad ministrative access to connec ted devices
Make sure an entry for the console server and t he Kerberos serverex ist in the console server’s
/etc/hosts file.
1. Go to Network - Ho st Table in Expert mode. The Host Table form appears.
2. Add an en try for the console server if none exi sts and an entry for the Kerberos server.
a. Click Add. The New/Modi fy Host dialog appears.
b. Enter the address in the IP Address field.
c. Enter the name in th e Name field.
d. Enter an opti onal alias in the Ali as field.
3. Make sure that time, date an d timezone settin gs are synchronized o n the console server and
on the Kerberos server.
NOTE: Kerberos authenticationd ependso n timesynchronization. Time and date synchronization canbe a chieved
bysetting both the console server and the Kerberos server to use the same NT Pser ver.

5. To set the time and date o n the console server manually, see To set the tim e and date

6. Work with the K erberosau thentication server administrato rto synchronize t he time and
date between th e console server and the Kerberos server.
7. Set the time zone on th e console server by going to Admi nistration - Time/D ate in Expert
mode. The default i s GMT.
8. Go to Security - Au thentication - Kerberos in Expert mode.
