SelectStatelessonly,Static or DHCP methods fro m the pull-down menu for
thedesired Ether net port configuration method. Selecting one of these options
choosesthe method used to obtain and configure IPv6 addresses.
Statelessonly:I Pv6 localaddr esseswill be obtained dynamicallyfrom the IPv6
router in the localnetwor k.T hismetho d shouldbe used only if the other two
methodsare unavailable. LocalIPv6 addresses obtained by the router cannot
beused outside of the local network.
Static:This method configures a static IPv6 address and its prefix length for the
interface.
DHCP: The IPv6 addr essa nd its prefix length will be obtained dynamically
from a DHCPv6 server.
StaticAddress
Enterthe static IPv6 or IPv4 address of the Ethernet por t. If entering an IPv6
address, enter both the IPv6 address and its prefix length:
<ipaddress>/<prefix_length>
Configuringa static IPv6 address isavailable only ifthe IPv6 Method selected is
Static.
IPv6 Ethernetinterfaces
All Ethernet interfaces must be either configu redo rdy namically assigned. Ethernet IPv6 can be
dynamically assign ed by a DHCPv6 server.
IPv6 serial interfaces
All serial interfaces can be configured with IPv6 add resses(port IP alias).
IPv6 PPP interfaces
All PPP interfaces can be either configured or dynamically assign ed with IPv6 addresses.Th is
includes all interface typ es you might co nfigure to use PPP protocol, su ch as serial ports wit h
extended modems.
Otheri nterfaces
All interfaces other than Ethernet and PPP will also be co nfigured with IPv6 addresses,
including all sub-int erfacesan d virtual interfaces such as VPN t unnels (static IPSec tunnels).
The following li st shows the network services that wi ll be configured to support t he IPv6
protocol:
