To configurea trigger for pager notificationfor serial ports:
1. Go to Administrat ion - Notifica tions in Expert mode and sel ect Pager from the pull-down
menu. If desired, enable No tification Ala rm for Data Bufferin g for an alarm to sound when
the trigger acti on occurs and cl ick either Add or Edit . The Notificatio ns Add/Edit di alog
boxdispl ays.
2. Specify the event you wish to t rigger a notification for in the Alarm Trigger field.
3. If you need to edit a n existing no tification, select i t from the pull-down list an dproceed.
4. Enter or change t he pager number in the Pager Nu mber field.
5. Enter or edit the text t hat describes the event in the Tex t field.
6. Enter or change the Short Message Services (SMS) username, the SMS server’sIP address or
name and the SMS port number in the SMS User Name, SMS Server and SMS Port fields
respectively.
7. Click OK.
8. Click apply changes.
SNMP trap notificationsentry
When you go to Adm inistration - Not ifications and select SNMP Trap from the pull-down
menu and then clic k on the Add or Edit butto n, the Notificati ons SNMP Add/Edit dialog b ox
displays.
SNMP traps are event notifications sent to a list of responsibl e parties set up to receive alerts
for the managed syst ems.A ny SNMP enabled d evice generates Fault Reports (Traps) that are
defined in the Management Information B ase(MIB). SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 define the
messaging format for the trap. The following tab le describes the available fields i n the SNMP
trap notification en tryd ialogbox.
