Power management whi le connected t o a port is po ssible only wh en one or both of the
following co nditions are true.
The device co nnected to the co nsole server is plugged i nto an IPDU and is con figured for
power management.
The device connected to the console server i s a server with an IPMI cont roller and the
server is added to the IPMI device list. To see the l ist of previously configured IPMI
devices or to add a new IPMI device, go to Applicat ions - IPMI Power Mgmt.
If you click En able power manag ement and click th e Add button, the Add Outlet dialog box
appears. In this dialog box ,y ou can specify the IPDU and the out let number(s) into which the
device is plu gged.
To configurea serial port for IPDU power management:
1. Go to Ports - Physical Ports, select a p ort or ports to modi fy and click t he appropriate
Modify Ports button and th e Power Management tab .
2. To enable power management of a device con nected to the current port and pl ugged into a
connected IPDU, cli ck Enable Power Mana gement on this p ort.
3. Select the name of a port configured for pow ermanag ement and click the Add but ton. The
Add Outlet di alog box appears.
4. Enter the outlet nu mber(s)into w hich the device is conn ected to separated by commas.
5. Click OK. The po wer management port and the speci fied outlet nu mbers are displayed on
the PowerMgmt Port list.
6. Enter the pow er management hotkey in the Power Management Key field . Enter a caret (^)
for the escape key , as in ^p. The caret stand s for the Ctrl key.
7. Click Done.
