What is MIDI?

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digit al Interface) is the international standard for digital communi cation of
electronic musical instrument dat a. This means that any equipment which has a MIDI ter minalsuch as
electronic musical instruments and person al computerscan easily exchange digital data with other
MIDI equipment without resorting to compli cated conversions or connections.

MIDI terminals

(On the rear panel) IN:
The terminal by which this instrument recei ves
data from other equipment.
OUT:
The terminal that transmits data from th is in-
strument to other equipment.
THRU:
The terminal that transfers data from the IN
terminal directly.
For these connections, use a commerci ally
available MIDI cable.
If the MIDI IN switch is set on to BASS PEDAL,
all MIDI settings except for MIDI OUT are not
effective. (Refer to page 199.)
