Preparing the OSA

To prepare the OSA

1.Connect an HP-IB cable between the computer's HP-IB connector and the HP-IB connector on the HP 70000 modular measurement system's rear panel.

HP 70950B/1B/2B OSA modules do not have an HP-IB connector.

Use the connector that is located on the mainframe in which the module is installed. Be careful not to confuse the display or mainframe's HP-IB connector with any connectors that may be present on the rear panel of any modules in the HP 70000 modular measurement system.

2.On the OSA, press 4DISPLAY5, and then press NAddressNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNMapNNNNNNNNNN.

3.Turn the front-panel knob until the OSA module appears in the address

map.

The HP-IB address is identical to the address map column where the module is listed. The OSA must be shown in row 0 of the map.

4.Ensure that the SYSTEM CONTROLLER switch on the HP 70004A display (or HP 70205 or HP 70206 display modules) is set to 0 (OFF).

5.Reset all instruments connected to the bus by turning the line power o￿ and then on again.

Most peripherals like plotters or printers are reset by pressing a reset key. If you are not sure how to reset a device, cycle its power o￿, then on, to reset it.
