PDA

If the source trace is displayed on a linear scale, a resolution parameter of 5 divides the amplitude range into 20 increments of 500 measurement units each (5% of 10,000 is 500).

The PDA function assumes the amplitude range of the source trace represents displayed trace data. If the source trace is displayed on a logarithmic scale, the amplitude range is 100 dB. If the source trace is displayed on a linear scale, the amplitude range is 10,000 measurement units. When executing the probability function on source traces other than trace A, B, or C, assume the amplitude range of the source trace is in measurement units when selecting the resolution parameter. For example, if the amplitude range is 0 to 200 and you require twenty increments (1-10, 11-20, 21-30,. . . . ), divide 200 by 20, then express the result (10, in this case) as a percentage of 10,000:

resolution parameter =

100 (amplitude range)

10; 000 (number of increments)

100(200)

0:1 = 20 (10; 000)

The above equation yields a resolution parameter of 0.1.
