HDLC

High-level data link control. A link level protocol used by PPP.

The connection between a host and a network.

internet

A network of networks.

IP Network

A symbolic name assigned to a virtual subnet IP address. This

network

The name by which the network is identified in the configura-

The point where switching between computers and terminals

node name

The name given to a LCS60. This is the hostname and is

 

independent of host interface names. This becomes the uname

 

for this machine (e.g., morse in Figure 3-1).

originating

A group assigned to devices which can call each other.

PDD

Predefined destination.

PPPPoint-to-Point Protocol. Similar to SLIP, but can carry multiple protocols simultaneously.
