VLAN COMMANDS

vlan

Use this command to configure a VLAN. Use the no form to restore the default settings or delete a VLAN.

Syntax

vlan vlan-id[name vlan-name]media ethernet [state {active suspend}]

no vlan vlan-id[name state]

•vlan-id- ID of configured VLAN. (Range: 1-4094, no leading zeroes)

•name - Keyword to be followed by the VLAN name.

•vlan-name- ASCII string from 1 to 32 characters.

•media ethernet - Ethernet media type.

•state - Keyword to be followed by the VLAN state.

-active - VLAN is operational.

-suspend - VLAN is suspended. Suspended VLANs do not pass packets.

Default Setting

By default only VLAN 1 exists and is active.

Command Usage

•When no vlan vlan-idis used, the VLAN is deleted.

•When no vlan vlan-idname is used, the VLAN name is removed.

•When no vlan vlan-idstate is used, the VLAN returns to the default state (i.e., active).

•VLAN 1 cannot be suspended, but any other VLAN can be suspended.

•You can configure up to 255 VLANs on the switch.
