Route Switch Processor Overview
The main system processor in the Cisco 7500 series routers is the Route Switch Processor (RSP). The current RSP models sold are: RSP4+, RSP8 and RSP16.. The RSP1, RSP2 and RSP4 are legacy models. The RSPs have common hardware features, and hardware features that differentiate one from the other.
The following sections first describe hardware features that are specific to each RSP model, and then describe features that are common to all RSPs.
