The optional Input/OutputCard IOC44 provides three Form-C, 10 A
mechanical relaysthat can be used to open or close circuit breakers,
annunciatealarms, and more.
The mechanical outputrelays of the circuit monitor can be configured to
operate in one of11 operating modes:
•Normal
•Latched (electricallyheld)
•Timed
•End of power demandi nterval
•Absolute kWh pulse
•Absolute kVARhpulse
•kVAhpulse
•kWh in pulse
•kVARhin pulse
•kWh out pulse
•kVARhout pulse
See the previous section “Relay Output Operating Modes”on page 75 fora
descriptionof the modes.
The last sevenmodes in the list above are for pulse initiator applications. All
Series 4000 Circuit Monitorsare equipped with one solid-state KYZ pulse
output ratedat 96 mA and an additional KYZ pulse output is availableon the
IOC44 card. The solid-stateKYZ output provides the long life—billions of
operations—requiredfor pulse initiator applications. The mechanicalrelay
outputs havelimited lives: 10 million operations under no load; 100,000
under load. For maximum life, use the solid-stateKYZ pulse output for pulse
initiation, except when a rating higher than 96 mA is required. See“Solid-
State KYZ Pulse Output”on page78 in this chapterfor a description of the
solid-state KYZ pulse ou tput.
Toset up a mechanical relay output, from the Main Menu, selectSetup > I/O.
Selectinput option IOC44. For detailed instructions, see “SettingUp I/Os”on
page 23 in Chapter 3—Operation.ThenusingSMS, you must define the
followingvalues for each mechanical relay output:
•Name—A16-character label used to identify the digitaloutput.
•Mode—Selectone of the operating modes listed above.
•Pulse Weight—You must set the pulseweight, the multiplier of the unit
beingmeasured, if you select any ofthe pulse modes (last 7 listed above).
•Timer—Youmust set the timer if you select the timed modeor end of
power demand intervalmode (in seconds).
•Control—Youmust set the relay to be controlled either remotely or
internally (fromthe circuit monitor) if you select the normal, latched,or
timed mode.

deviceset up of the circuit monitor.
