Depending on the I/O modulesyou select, the circuit monitor can accept
either voltageor current signals through its analoginputs. See Table5–1on
page 70 fora list of I/O options. The circuit monitor storesa minimum and a
maximum valuefor each analog input.
For technicalspecifications and instructions on installing I/O modules, refer
to the instructionbulletin that ships with the I/O (see Table1–2onpage3for
a list of thesepublications). To set up analoginputs, you must first set it up
from the display. From the main menu, select Setup> I/O, then select the
appropriate analoginput option. For example, if you are usingthe IOX0404
option of the I/OExtender, select IOX-0404. Fordetailed instructions, see
“SettingUpI/Os”onpage 23 in Chapter 3—Operation. Then, in SMS define
the followingvalues for each analog input:
•Name—a16-character label used to identify the analog input.
•Units—the unitsof the monitored analog value (for example,“psi”).
•Scale factor—multipliesthe units by this value (such as tenthsor
hundreths).
•Report Range Lower Limit—thevalue the circuit monitor reports when
the input reachesa minimum value. When the input current is below the
lowest validreading, the circuit monitor reports the lower limit.
•Report Range Upper Limit—thevalue the circuit monitor reports when
the input reachesthe maximum value. When the input current is above
highest validreading, the circuit monitor reports the upper limit.
Forinstructions on setting up analog inputsin SMS,seedevicesetupofthe
circuitm onitor in the SMS online help.
