ARS Restriction Level For Extensions 3

Use this procedure to assign an ARS restriction level to an extens ion. Outgoing
calls can be made only to routes that have a Facility Restriction Level (FR L) lower
than or equal to that of the extension for which the call is being made. Only
outgoing calls are affected; users can receive inside, local, and toll calls on
restricted telephones and can join any type of call in progress.
The restriction level assigned to extensions is opposite to the FR L assigned to
routes, where 0 is the most and 6 is the least restrictive.
In Release 6.0 and later systems, FRLs assigned to extensions apply not only to
ARS calls but also to calls for non-local dial plan extensions connected by private
trunks to your local system. For this reason, use care in assigning FRLs both to
extensions and to UDP routes. For example, if a user must be restricted from toll
calls on your local system, you may need to plan UDP routes’ FRLs to allow the
user to reach necessary non-local dial plan extensions. For details, see “UDP
(Uniform Dial Plan) Routing” on page –401.
