2.2 on an Avaya DEFINITY Server CSI

This chapter provides the information on upgrading from a DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server (ECS) Release 9csi/10csi or Communication Manager R1.x or R2.x to Avaya™ Communication Manager R2.2 on an Avaya DEFINITY Server CSI.

Administrator’s Guide for Avaya Communication Manager lists the features and functions and provides the commands, procedures, and screens to initialize and administer the system.

License File

For systems on releases prior to Communication Manager R2.0, a license file is required for the upgrade. Remote Feature Activation (RFA) is a Web-based application that enables the creation and deployment of license files for all switches. The License File enables the switch’s software category, release, features, and capacities. License Files are created using SAP order information and/or current customer configuration information.

! CAUTION:

Without a license file, the switch will provide call processing. However, while in no-license mode, the switch displays a license-error message on display phones. After 30 days with no license, switch administration is blocked.

7-digit dial plan expansion

The upgrade automatically converts the old Uniform Dial Plan forms to the new forms. These forms are discussed completely in the Administrator’s Guide for Avaya Communication Manager.
