Circuit Pack Installation

! CAUTION:

When handling circuit packs or any components of a DEFINITY System, always wear an authorized wrist ground strap. Connect the strap to the ground connector provided on the system cabinet.

Note:

Unlike previous releases of DEFINITY, the circuit pack slots in the CMC are not purple or white. This is because all of the circuit pack slots in the CMC are “universal slots.” That is, any slot can contain any type ofport circuit pack.

Circuit Pack Slot Loading

In general, load the circuit packs so that the number of packs in each cabinet is about equal and the trunks and lines are evenly distributed among the cabinets. See Figure 20: Control Carrier Slot Layout on page 60.

To install circuit packs:

1.Install the TN2402 Processor circuit pack in slot 1 of Cabinet A.

2.Install the TN2182C Tone-Clock circuit pack in slot 2 of Cabinet A.

Load all port circuit packs starting with Cabinet A first, Cabinet B next, and so forth. Return to Cabinet A and repeat.

3.A TN744E Call Classifier/Tone Detector circuit pack may be required in systems with heavy traffic. Install the TN744E into any port slot. Slot 1 of Cabinet B is preferred.
