CHAPTER 2 MAIN CONTROLLER

When the self-diagnostic program ends normally, the boot program also stored in the boot ROM will start up. The boot program reads the system software from the HDD into the sys- tem area of the SDRAM.

When the write operation ends, the system software in the SDRAM starts up to initialize the various parts of the machine, at the end of which the control panel will indicate the nor- mal operation screen and, at the same time, the Start key LED changes from red to green to indicate that the machine is ready to accept a job.

The machine’s system software consists of multiple modules, and those modules that are needed for a specific task in question will be called into the system area of the SDRAM for use.
