Installing APs o n the Netwo rk

Use the AP placement map generatedby RF Plan to i nstallAP s.Yo ucan eit herconnect the AP directly to a port on

the controller,or connect t heA P to another switch or router that has layer-2 or layer-3c onnectivity to the controller.

If the Ethernet port on the controlleris an 802 .3af Power over Ethernet(P oE) port, the AP automatically uses it to

power up.I f a PoE port is not available, you must get an AC adapter for the AP. Fo r morei nformation,see the

Installation Guide for the specific AP.

Oncean AP is connected to the network and powered up, it attempts to locate the master controller using oneo f

the methods described in "EnablingCo ntrollerDisco very"on page 405.
