NOTE:Each w ireless client VLAN mustbe configured on the controller w ith an IP address. On the uplink switch or router, you must
configurestatic routes for each client VLAN, with the controller’s VLAN 1 IP address as thenext hop.
Deploymen t Scenario #3: A Ps on Multiple D ifferent Subne tsfro m Controllers
Figure 6: APs on MultipleD ifferentSubnets from Controllers
In this deployment scenario, theA Ps and the controllerare on different subnetworks and theA Ps are on multiple
subnetworks. There are routers between the APs and the controller. The controller is connected to a layer-2 switch or
routert hrougha trunk port that carries traffic for all wireless client VLA Ns. An upstream routerfunctions as the
defaultgateway for the wireless users.
NOTE:Thi s deployment scenario does
not
useVLAN 1 to connect to the layer-2 switch or routerthrough the trunk port. The initial
setupprompts you for the IP address and defaultgateway for VLAN 1; use the default values. In later steps, you configure the
appropriateV LANto connect to the switch or router as well as the default gateway.
For this scenario, you must perform the following tasks:
1. Run the initial setup.
lUse the
default
IP address forV LAN 1. Since VLAN 1 is
not
used to connect to thelayer-2 switch or router
throughthe trunk port, you must configure the appropriate VLAN in a later step.
lDo
not
specify a defaultgateway (use the default “none”).In a later step, you configuret hedefault gateway.
