Channel Summary Table
The channelsummary table provides a summarized or aggregated view of key stat istics. Spectrum monitors display
spectrumanalysis data seen on all channels in the selected band, and hybrid APs display data from the one channel
they are monitoring. The examplein Figure 213 below s hows that a spectrum monitor sees 44 V alid APs and 52%
channelutilizatio n on channel40 in the 5GHz radio band.
Figure 213: ChannelSummary Table
Spectrummonito rradios usingt he5 GHz radio band can display channelsusing either 20 MHz or 40 MHzc hannel
numbering. To toggle between these two channel numberingmodes, click the down arrow in the upper right corner
of the graph titlebar then click either Show 20 MHz Channels or Show 40 MHz Channels.
Click any of the column headingst o sort the information in the table by that column criteria. Make a column wider
or narrowerby c lickingt he borderof a columnheading and dragging the border to a new positio n.
Table2 14 describes the output of the ChannelSummary table.
Parameter Description
Channel Radio channel being monitored by the spectrum monitor or hybrid AP
Valid APs Number ofknown APs seen on the network.
NotVali d APs Number ofunknown or i nvalid APs seenon the network.
NonWi -Fi Devices Number of Non-Wi-Fi (interfering) devices detected/classified by the spectrum
monitor
CenterFreq. (GHz) Centerfrequency of the Wi-Fi signals sent on that radio channel.
Channel Util. (%) Percentageof the channel currently being used by devices on the network
MaxAP Pow er (dBm) Signal strengthof the AP that has the maximum signal strength on a channel.
MaxInterference (dBm) Signal strengthof the non-Wi-Fi device that has the highest signal strength.
SNIR(dB) The Signal-to-Noise-and-Interference Ratio (SNIR) is the ratio of signal strengthto the
combined levels of interferenceand noi seon that channel. Thi svalue i scal culated by
determining the maximum noise-floor and interference-signal levels, and then
calculating how strong thedesired signal isabove this maximum.
