BackgroundImages

You can import a backgroundimage (floor plan image) into RF Plan for each floor. A backgroundi magei s extremely
helpfulwhen specifying areas where coveragei s not desired or areaswhere an AP/AM is not to be physically deployed.
Use the guidelines in this section when importing background images. By becoming familiar with these guidelines,
you can ensuret hat your graphic file is edited properly for pre- and post-deploymentplanning.
lEdit the image—Use an appropriate graphicsedit ort o edit the file as needed.
lScalet hei mage—Ifthe image is not s caled, proportional triangulation and heat map displays can be incorrect
whent he planis deployed.
lCalculateimage dimensions—Calculate the image pixels per feet (or meters)against a known dimension. Use
that valuet o calculatethe wi dthand length of the image.
lLeave a borderaround the image—When creating thei mage, leave a boarder around the image to help triangulate
Wi-Fi devices outside of the building.
lMultiplefloors—If your building has multiple floors, makes urethere is a common anchorpoi nt for allfloors; for
examplean elevator shaft, a staircase, and so on.
lLargerdimensions—Use larger dimensions only for scaling to more accurately calculate the full dimensions. For
best results, final floor images 2048 X 2048 and smallerperform best.
Select a backgroundimage using the Browse button on the Floor Editor dialog box.
lFile Type and Size
Backgroundimages must be JPEG format andmay not exceed 2048 X 204 8 pixelsin size. Attempting to import
a file with a larger pixelfoot print than that specified here resultsi n the image not scaling to fit the image area in
the floor display area.
Because backgroundimages for your floors are embedded in the XML file that defines your building, you should
stronglyco nsiderminimiz ingt hefile size o ft heJPE Gs that you use for yourbackgrounds. You can minimize the
file size by selecting the maximum compression (lowest quality) in most graphics programs.
NOTE:The ArubaOSWebUI displays floor plans using Adobe Flash Player, whichdoes not support progressive JPEG images. If you
havea progressive JPEG image you want to use as background image, open the image in an im age editing program and re-save the
image with standard/baseline compression.
lImage Scaling
Images are scaled(stretched) to fit the display area. The display area aspect ratio is determined by the building
dimensions specified on the Dimension page.
Area Editor Dialog Box
The Area Editor dialog box allows you to specify areas on yo urbuilding floors where you either do not care about
coverage,or w hereyou do not want to place an AP o r AM.
Openthe A rea Editor dialog box by clicking New in the Areas section.
You specify these areas by placingthem on top o ft hebackground image using the Area Editor.
