Parameter Description
Basic Mesh Radio Set tings
LinkThreshold Usethis setting to optimize operation of the link metric algorithm.
Indicatesthe mini mal RSSI value. If the RS SI value is below this threshold, the l ink may be considered
asub-threshold link. A sub-threshold link is one whose average RSSI value falls below theconfigured
link threshold.
Ifthis occurs, the mesh node may try to find a betterl ink on thesame channel andcluster (only
neighborson the same channel are considered).
Default:12. The supported threshold is hardware dependent, with a practical range of 10–90.
Advanced Mesh Radio Set tings
802.11aTransmit
Rates
Indicatesthe transmit rates for the 802.11a radio.
TheAP attempts to use the highest transmission rateto establish a mesh link. If a rate is unavailable,
theAP goes through the list and uses the nexthi ghestrate.
Tom odifytransmit rates, do one of the following:
lInthe WebUI, deselect (uncheck) a specific rate box touse fewer rates when establishing a mesh
link.
lInthe CLI, enter the specific rates to use.
Default:All transmission rates are selected and used. If you do not select802.11a or 802.11g transmit
rates, all ratesare selected by default when you cl ick Apply.
802.11gTransmit
Rates
Indicatesthe transmit rates for the 802.11g radio.
TheAP attempts to use the highest transmission rateto establish a mesh link. If a rate is unavailable,
theAP goes through the list and uses the nexthi ghestrate.
Tom odifytransmit rates, do one of the following:

BC/MCRate
Optimization
Broadcast/MulticastRate Optimization dynamically selects the rate for sending broadcast/multicast
frameson any BSS. Thi sfeature determines the optimal rate for sending broadcast and multicast
framesbased on the lowest of the unicast rates acrossall associatedclients.
Whenthe Mul ticastRate Optimiz ation featureis enabled, thecontroller scans the list of all associated
stationsin that BSS and finds the lowest transmission rate as indicated by therate adaptation state for
eachstation. If there are no associated stationsi n theBSS , it selectsthe low estconfigured rate as the
transmissionrate for broadcast and mul ticastframes.
Thisfeature is enabled by default. Multicast Rate Optimization appli esto broadcast and multicast
framesonly. 802.11 management frames are not affected bythis feature and are transmitted at the
lowestconfigured rate. W hen enabled, this settingdynami cally adjuststhe mul ticastrate to that of the
slowestconnected mesh child. Multicastframes are not sent if there are no mesh children.
NOTE:Thi sfeature should only be enabled on a BSS w here all associated stationsare sending or
receiving unicastdata. If there is no unicast data to or from a particular station, then the rateadaptation
statemay not accurately reflect the current sustainable transmission rate for that station. This could
resultin a hi gher packeterror rate for broadcast/multicast packetsat that station.
Default:Enabled.
Heartbeat
threshold
Indicatesthe maximum num ber ofheartbeat messages that can be lost between neighboring mesh
nodes.
Default:10 missed heartbeats. The range is 1–255.
