Field Description
Ifyou are using SNMPv3 to obtain values from the controller, you can configure the following parameters:
Username Astring representing the name of the user.
Authenticationprotocol Anindi cation ofw hetherm essagessent on behalf of this user can be authenticated,
andi fso, the type of authentication protocol used. This can take one of thetwo values:
lMD5:HMAC-MD5-96 Digest Authentication Protocol
lSHA:HMAC-SHA-96 Digest Authentication Protocol
Authenticationprotocol password Ifmessages sent on behalf of this usercan be authenticated, the (private)
authenticationkey for use with the authentication protocol. This is a string password
forMD5 or SHA depending on the choice above.
Privacyprotocol Anindi cation ofw hetherm essagessent on behalf of this user can be protectedfrom
disclosure, and if so, thetype of privacy protocol which is used. This takes the value
DES(CBC-DES Symmetric Encryption Protocol).
Privacyprotocol password Ifmessages sent on behalf of this usercan be encrypted/decrypted with DES, the
(private)privacy key for use with the privacy protocol.
Follow thes teps belowto configure a controller’sbasic SNMP parameters.
In the WebUI
1. N avigate to the Configu ration > Man agement > S NMP page.
2. I f the controllerwi llbe sending SNMP traps, click Add in the Trap Receivers section to add a trap receiver.
3. I f you are using SNMPv3 to obtain values from the controller, click Add in the SNMPv3 Users section to add a
new SNMPv3 user.
4. Click A pply.
