Enabling Wi-Fi Edg e Detection a nd Hand over for Voice C lients
Voice clients in an infrastructure can be switched to an alternate carrier or connection when they leave their active
Wi-Fi coverageor roam to an area with poor Wi-Fi coverage. The controller usest hebest Wi-Fi signal strength
(dbm value)reported by the voice clients (received from all APs) to determine if the voice clients are within or
leavingt heiracti ve Wi-Fi connection. If the signalst rengthis weak, the controller will trigger the handoverprocess
to switch the voice client to an alternate carrier or connection. This process ensuresQoS for voice calls.
NOTE:lThe handover process is available for voice clients supporting the 802.11K standardand w ith theabi lity totransmit and
receivebeacon reports.
lThevoice cl ientsshould have dual m ode capabilities to ensure thatthey can switch to an alternate network in case of a loss in
Wi-Fi coverage.
The handoverprocess can be c onfiguredusing the wlan handover -trigger-profile command.Use the handover-
