Setting an Adm inistrator Session Time out
You can configuret he numberof seconds after which an A dministrator’s WebUI or CLI session times out.
In the WebUI
To define a timeout interval fora WebUI session, use the command:
web-server sessiontimeout <session-timeout>
In the above command, <session-timeout>can be any number of seconds from 30 to 36 00, inclusive.
In the CLI
To define a timeout interval fora CLI session, use the command:
loginsession timeout <value>
In the above command, <val>c anbe any number of minutes from 5 to 60 or seconds from 1 to 3600, inclusive.
You can also specify a timeout value of 0 to disable CLI session timeouts.
Implementing a Sp ecific Management Passw ord Policy
By default,the password for a new management user hasno requirements other than a minimum lengthof 6
alphanumericor special characters. However, if your company enforces a best practices password policy for
managementusers with root access to network equipment, you may want to configurea password policy that sets
requirementsfor management user passwords.
Defining a Man agement Pa ssword Policy
To define specific managementpasswo rdpolicy set tings throughthe WebUI or the CLI, complete the following
steps:
In the WebUI
1. N avigate to Configuration>All Profiles.
2. E xpandOther Prof iles.
3. Select Mgmt Passwor d Policy.
4. Co nfigurethe setti ngs describedi n Table2 50.
Parameter Description
Enable Password Policy Selectthis checkbox to enable the password management policy. The password
policy will not be enforced until this checkbox is sel ected.
Minimum password length required Them inimum number of characters required for a management user password
Range: 6-64characters. Default: 6.
Minimum number of Upper Case
characters
Them inimum number of uppercase characters required in a management user
password.
Range: 0-10characters. By default, there is no requirement for uppercase letters in a
password,and the parameter has a default value of 0.
Minimum number of Lower Case
characters
Them inimum number of lowercase characters required in a management user
password.
