Route Codes: Displays th e key for the routing protocol cod es that might appear in the routing table
output.
The command displays the routing table s in the following format:
Code IP-Address/Mask [Preference/Metric] via Next-Hop, Interface
Code: The codes for the routing protocols that created the routes.
IP-Address/Mask: The IP-Address and mask of the destination n etwork correspondi ng to this route.
Preference: The administrative distan ce associated with this route. Routes with low value s are
preferred over routes with higher values.
Metric: The cost associated with this route.
via Next-Hop: The outgoing router IP address to use when forwarding traffic to the next router (if any)
in the path toward the destination
Interface: The outgoin g router interface to use when forwarding traffic to the next destination

8.2.1.5 show ip route bestroutes

This command displays router route table information for the best routes.

Total Number of Routes: The total number of ro utes.
Network Address: Is an I P route prefix for the destination.
Subnet Mask: Is a mask of the network and host portion of the IP address for the router interface.
Protocol: Tells which protocol added the specified rou te. The possibilities are: local, static, OSPF, or
RIP.
