Pre- and Post-Exec Commands

The pre- and post-execprocesses operate in background mode. Therefore, do not use any interactive commands for the pre- and post-execprocessing.

If a command writes any text to stdout, this text is received by the Disk Agent, sent to the Session Manager, and written to the database. A stderr is redirected to /dev/null. You can redirect it to stdout to get error messages logged to the database.

The pre- and post-execcommands for an object have to be located on the client where the Disk Agent is running.

The pre- and post-execcommands must be executable and specified with the full pathname.

You can disable pre- and post-execscripts by adding the line OB2OEXECOFF=1 into the omnirc file on any client.

You can secure the client by specifying which Cell Managers are allowed to access the client. Only permitted Cell Managers will be able to execute pre- and post-execcommands on the client. For more information on securing a client, refer to the HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Installation and Licensing Guide.
