Other Firmware Upgrades
NEIT and 2400 dpi resolution SIMM based upgrades require that
your printer engine be reset to operate at 10 ppm (letter/A4 output).
Although the first of these two upgrades, which changes your printer
engine speed, must be done at the factory, the other upgrade may be
installed on site.
The 2400 dpi upgrade consists of a Flash SIMM, a FIFO SIMM, and,
possibly, a SODIMM RAM upgrade. The NEIT upgrade consists of
a replacement flash SIMM. These upgrades can be installed on site.
Note: The optional duplexer and optional 2,000 sheet feeder are
available only for 20 ppm printers. They cannot be used on
printers that have the 2400 dpi or NEIT upgrade installed.
Installing SODIMMs and SIMMs
RAM SODIMMs are installed in the DRAM banks (see the previous
section); flash and FIFO SIMM banks are labeled on the board (fig.
10.30). The RAM SODIMM and the Flash and FIFO SIMMs are
different sizes and will only fit in the correct banks.
