3.Check for paper jams around the toner cartridge.

4.Check for paper jams in the back of the paper feeder from which the media was fed.

5.Reassemble the printer.

Locating Jams on a Printer with the Duplexer

1.Check for paper jams in the optional duplexer.

2.Check for paper jams in the paper cassette or multipurpose feeder from which the media was fed.

3.Check for paper jams around the toner cartridge.

4.Check for paper jams in the back of the paper feeder from which the media was fed.

5.Remove the optional duplexer; then check for paper jams in the paper exit area, under the fuser cover.

6.Reassemble the printer.

Clearing Paper Jams

This section describes removing paper jams from specific locations.

Warning: Remove paper jams slowly and carefully to prevent tearing the paper. Paper scraps in the printer can become a fire hazard.

Clearing a Paper Cassette or Multipurpose Feeder Jam

1.Squeeze top cover latch to release the lock (fig. 11.2).

Note: If media is in the output tray, remove it before lifting the top cover.
