Labeling 4-Pair Wire and Outlets

It does not matter whether you pull the DIW cable from the telephone to the control unit or from the control unit to the telephone. In either case, mark one end of the DIW cable with the location or destination of the other end.

The following procedure is an example of pulling from the telephone to the control unit.

1.If you do not have labeling instructions on any the system forms, assign a number to each jack on the floor.

2.Put the boxes of wire near the offices (and jacks) where they have been assigned.

3.Mark the end of each DIW cable with the number of the jack where the wire has been assigned.
