Your wireless phone is a radio tra nsmitter and receiver. It is des igned
and manufactured not to excee d the emission limits for exp osure
to radiofrequency (RF ) energy set by the Federal C ommunications
Commission of the U.S. Governme nt. These limits are part of
comprehensive guide lines and establish per mitted levels of RF energy
for the general populati on. The guidelines are ba sed on standards
that were developed by indepen dent scientific organi zations through
periodic and thorough eva luation of scientific stu dies. The standards
include a substantial sa fety margin designed to as sure the safety of all
persons, regardless of ag e and health.
The exposure standard for wi reless mobile phones e mploys a unit of
measurement known as th e Specific Absorption R ate, or SAR. The
SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg.* Tests for SAR are conducte d
with the phone transmitt ing at its highest certif ied power level in all
tested frequency bands. A lthough the SAR is determin ed at the highest
certified power level, th e actual SAR level of the phone wh ile operating
can be well below the maxi mum value. This is because t he phone
is designed to operate at multi ple power levels so as to use only the
