If the problem still exists, have the system serviced. Check the following:
Ÿ Make sure that the hub is turned on.
Ÿ Check all connections at the Ethernet and the hub.
Ÿ Check the cable. A crossover cable is required unless the hu has anX designation.
Ÿ Use another port on the hub.
Ÿ If the hub does not support auto-negotiation, manually configur the Ethernet controller to match the hub.
Ÿ If you manually configured the duplex mode, make sure that y also manually configure the speed.
Ÿ Run diagnostics for the LEDs.

10/100 Mbps Ethernet Controller Troubleshooting Chart

You can use the following troubleshooting chart to find solutions to 10/ Ethernet problems that have definite symptoms.

the following:

Check

ŸDetermine if the interrupt (IRQ) setting assigned to the Ethe controller is also assigned to another device in the Configuration/Setup Utility program.

Although interrupt sharing is allowed for PCI devices, some devices do not function well when they share an interrupt wit dissimilar PCI device. Try changing the IRQ assigned to the

Ethernet controller or the other device. (See “Resolving

Configuration Conflicts” on page 152.)

ŸFor NetWare and IntraNetware, do not use IRQ 14 or 15 for

devices. IRQ 14 is

used

for

IDE

devices (CD-ROM drive). If
