Troubleshooting: Connecting to the BlackBerry Administration Service

The web browser displays an HTTP 404 or HTTP 504 error message when it tries to connect to a BlackBerry Administration Service instance

Possible cause

Possible solution

You created a BlackBerry Administration Service pool using DNS round robin and you stopped the BlackBerry Administration Service services for the BlackBerry Administration Service instance that you currently use. Although you stopped the BlackBerry Administration Service services, it might take some time before the BlackBerry Administration Service instance completes the shutdown process. During this time, if the web browser sends an HTTP request to the BlackBerry Administration Service instance, the BlackBerry Administration Service instance accepts the request because the connection is still available. However, while the BlackBerry Administration Service instance processes the request, it completes its shutdown process and the connection becomes unavailable. The web browser displays an error message.

Wait a few seconds and then try to click a link in the BlackBerry Administration Service console again. The web browser redirects you to an instance in the BlackBerry Administration Service pool that is running and the web browser displays the login page for the instance.

The BlackBerry Administration Service cannot connect to the BlackBerry Configuration Database.

Verify the BlackBerry Administration Service can access the BlackBerry Configuration Database. If necessary, restart the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
