3.3.6Address Table Settings
Switches store the addresses for all known devices. This information is used to route traffic directly between the inbound and outbound ports. All the addresses learned by monitoring traffic are stored in the dynamic address table. You can also manually configure static addresses that are bound to a specific port.
3.3.6.1Displaying the Address Table
The Address Table contains the MAC addresses dynamically learned by monitoring the source address for traffic entering the switch. When the destination address for inbound traffic is found in the database, the packets intended for that address are forwarded directly to the associated port. Otherwise, the traffic is flooded to all ports. The Address Table also includes static MAC addresses that are tied to a specific port. (See “Configuring Static Addresses” on page
When viewing the Address Table through the web interface or CLI, the following parameters are displayed:
■Port ID (Interface17) – The port or aggregated link.
■VLAN ID – The VLAN identifier (between 1 and 4094). (This field includes the VLAN ID and name.)
■MAC Address – The MAC address associated with this interface.
17.CLI displays Interface.
