LocalTalk Menu

Use the LOCALTALKMENU to change settings affecting

jobs sent to the printer throughthe LocalTalk port.

If LocalTalkPort is set to Disabled, all other menu items in

theLOCALTALKMENUarenotavailable.

This menu is only available if the Tri-Portinterface option

cardis installed in your printer.

Select LTalk Op tion 1 to activate the LocalTalk port on the Tri-Port interfaceoption card.
Ifyou select Disabled, all of the other menu items in the LOCALTALK MENU are not available.
PCLSmar tSwitch Off
On*
If PCLSmar tSwitch is set to On, the printer examines the data on the LocalTalkinterface
connection and selects PCLemulation if the data indicates that is the printer language.
Ifboth PCLSmar tSwitch and PS SmartSwitch are set to Off, the printer uses the language
specifiedinthePrinterLanguage menu as the default. If only one SmartSwitch setting is set
to Off,the printer uses the language that has its Smar tSwitch setting set to On as the default.
PS SmartSwitch Off

If PSSmar tSwitch is set to On, the printer examines the data on the specified LocalTalk
interfaceconnection and selects PostScript 3 emulation if the data indicates that is the printer
language.
Ifboth PCLSmar tSwitch and PS SmartSwitch are set to Off, the printer uses the language
specifiedinthePrinterLanguage menu as the default. If only one SmartSwitch setting is set
to Off,the printer uses the language that has its Smar tSwitch setting set to On as the default.
