Parallel M enu
Use the PARALLELMENU to change settings affecting
jobs sent to the printer throughthe parallel interface con-
nection.PARALLEL MENU displays as a standard feature
or as an option, and appears as one of the following:
•STD PARALLEL
•PARALLELOPT 1
PARALLELOPT 1 is only available if a parallel/USB
interface option cardis installed. The following menu
itemsset the configuration of the parallel interface connec-
tion.

If PCLSmar tSwitch is set to On, the printer examines the data on the parallel interface
connection and selects PCLemulation if the data indicates that is the printer language.
Ifboth PCLSmar tSwitchand PS Smar tSwitch are set to Off,the pr inter uses the language
specifiedinthePrinterLanguage menu as the default.If only one Smar tSwitch setting is set
to Off,the printer uses the language that has its Smar tSwitch setting set to On as the default.
PS SmartSwitch Off

If PSSmar tSwitch is set to On, the printer examines the data on the parallelinterface
connection and selects PostScript3 emulation if the data indicates that is the printer
language.
Ifboth PCLSmar tSwitch and PS SmartSwitch are set to Off, the printer uses the language
specifiedinthePrinterLanguage menu as the default.If only one Smar tSwitch setting is set
to Off,the printer uses the language that has its Smar tSwitch setting set to On as the default.
