Printer Language PCL Emulation*
PS Emulation
Theprinter language defines how the computer communicates with the printer. Your computer
usesprinter languages, such as PCL emulation and PostScript 3 emulation, to send print data
tothe p rinter.Setting a printer language as the default does not prevent the software appli-
cationfrom sendingpr int jobs that use the other printer language.
Power Saver Disabled
1120(20*) [OptraM410]
1240(15*) [OptraM412]
The Power Saver menu item lets you reduce power usage when the printer is idle by deter-
miningthe length of time (in minutes) the printer waits after a job is printed before it goes to a
reduced powerstate.
Ifyou have selected a Power Saver value, th e Power Saver message replaces the Ready
message and becomes the newpr inter defaultwhen the printer is i n a Readystate. Both
messages indicate the printer is ready to receivejobs.
Ifyour printer isin constant use, select a high setting, such as 120. Under most circum-
stances, this keeps the printer ready to print with minimum warm-up time. However, a high
settingalso uses moreenergy.
SetPower Saver to 1to put the printer in Power Saver mode one minute after it finishes a print
job. This uses much less energy, but requires more warm-up time forthe pr inter. If your printer
sharesan electr ical circuit with room lighting and younotice lights flickering, you may want to
set PowerSaver to 1.
Ifyou want a balance between energy consumption and a shorter warm-up per iod, select a
PowerSaver value between 1 and 120 minutes or 1 and 240 minutes depending on your
printer model.
Note: Some printer models released in the year2000 or later designated as Energy Star
printers cannot havePower Saver disabled.
Resource Save Off*
On
The ResourceSave setting determines whatthe pr inter does with downloaded resources,
such as fontsand macros, if it receives a job that requires more memory than is available.
If ResourceSave is set to On, the printer retains all permanent downloaded resources forall
printer languages during language changes and printer resets. If the printer runs out of
memory,Memory Full appears on the operator panel display.
If ResourceSave is set to Off, the printer retains permanent downloaded resources only until
memory is needed. Then it deletes those resources stored forthe inactive printer language.
