Printing Problems

Job didnot p rint or incorrect
characterspr inted. Makesure the Ready status message appears on the operator panel display
beforeyou send a job to print. Press Go to return the printer to the Ready status
message.
Makesure there is print mater ial loaded in the printer.Press Go to return the
printer to the Ready status message.
Verifythat the printer is using the correct printer language.
Verifythat the correct printer driver is being used.
Makesure the parallel cable or USB cable is firmly plugged in at the back of
thepr inter.
Checkthe cable connection. Make sure you are using the correct cable. If
youuse the parallel por t, werecommend a IEEE 1284-compliant parallel
cablesuch as Lexmark par t number 1329605 (10 ft) or 1427498 (20 ft). If
youuse the USB por t, we recommend the cablewith Lexmark par t number
12A2405 (2M).
If the printer is connected through a switchbox, try a direct connection.
Verifythat the correct paper size is selected through the operator panel, in
thepr inter driver,or in the software application setting.
Makesure PCL SmartSwitch and PS Smar tSwitch are set to On.
If a print spooler is used, verify that the spooler is not stalled.

Determine which host interfaceyou are using. Print a menu settings page to
verifythat the current interface settings are correct. See Printing the Menu
Settings Pageonpage 39 for more information.
Ifyou are using serial interface:
Makesure Honor DSR is set to Off.
Checkthe protocol, baud, parity, and data bit settings. The settings on the
printer and on the host computer should match.
Youare connected to the USB
port, but the printer will not print. Makesure you are using Windows 98 or other USB-capable operating system
supported by Lexmark.
