Chapter 4: Using Print Materials
Card Stock
Guidelines Cardstock is single ply, and has a large array of proper-
ties, such as the orientation of paper fibers and texture,
that can significantly affectthe print quality.
Trya sample of any card stock you are considering using
with the printer beforepurchasing a large quantity.
See page 116for information on the preferred weight of
print materials.
Note: When printing on card
stock, be sure to set the PAPER
TYPE to CardStock from the
printerdriver, and from either the
operator panel or from MarkVi-
sion.
When printing on cardstock:
Use cardstock that can withstand temperatures of
205°C (401°F) without sealing, excessive curling,
wrinkling, or releasinghazardous emissions.
Do not usepreprintedcardstockmanufactured
with chemicals that may contaminate the printer.
Preprintingintroduces semi-liquid and volatile
components in the printer.
Donot use card stock that is perforated or creased. It
may cause paper jams.
Werecommend the use of grain short card stock.
After printing approximately10,000 pages of card stock
(or each time you replacethe print cartridge), complete
the following steps to maintain printer feeding reliability:
1Print 5 sheets of paper.
2Waitapproximately 5 seconds.
3Print 5 more sheets of paper.
