Chapter 10: Fax
Setting Up a
Fax Port Touse your printer serial port to process fax data:
1Turnthe printer power Off (O) and unplug the
printer power cord.
2Turnthe modem power Off and unplug the
modem power cord.
3Disconnect all cables from the back of the printer.
4Connectthe hardware. The end of the modem cable
that connects to the serial port must be 25-pin.
The class 1 fax modem connects to the serial port of
yourprinter. If you need additional help, refer to the
class 1 fax modem documentation for details.
Note: It is very important to
poweron the modem
before
you
power on the printer.
5Reconnect all cables to the back of the printer.
6Reconnect the power cords to the printer and the
modem to properly grounded electrical outlets.
7Tur n the m ode m pow er On .
8Turnthe printer power On (|).
9OnceReady displays, complete the following steps
to configure the serial port for fax data:

aPress Menu> or <Menuto enter the menus.
bPressMenu> until FA X MENU appears on the first
line of the display.
cPress Select.
Fax Port appears on the second line of the display.
dPress Select to choose Fax Port.
