Introducing the Printer
This section gives you a general overvie w of the printer, including highlights
and optional features.

General Description

The IBM Network Color Printer is a midr an ge workgroup printer. It can
produce single-sided black and whit e pr ints at a rate of up to 12 impressions
per minute (IPM) and full-color p rints at a rate of up to 3 IPM. Th e printer has a
cyan-magenta-yellow-black (CMY K), full-color laser processor that prin t s 16
gray levels per color. The printer prints Pos t S cript jobs in Windows,
Macintosh, and UNIX environments.

Highlights

Some of the highlights of the printer are:
Toner cartridges
The printer uses 4 separate color toner c a rtridges (cyan, magenta, yellow,
and black). When a toner cartridge is used up, yo u ca n rep lace it with a new
one of the same color.
Flexible color range
The 4 color toner cartridges offer outp ut in f ull c ol or, a single color only
(monocolor), or true black (using the black toner ca rtridge).
High resolution
The printer has a print resolut ion of 600 × 600 dots per inch, which results in
laser-sharp output in full c olor.
High print speed
The printer delivers up to 3 pages per mi nut e in full color or up to 12 pages
per minute in monocolor (black only).
Flexible paper handling
The universal paper cassette in tray 1 ac c ep ts letter, legal, A4, and JIS B5
paper sizes. It can hold approximately 25 0 sheets (at 80 g/m2) of plain
paper. The auxiliary tray accepts tran s pa rencies as well as plain paper. To
increase the volume of paper, you can add an optional tray 2 paper feeder.
Note:T his pr inter does only simplex (single-side) pr inting. Duplex printing is
not available.
