68 / Answering calls

Changing handsfree for a telephone

You can program the type of handsfree used with each telephone.

You need the programming template found at the front of this guide. See ‘‘Getting started with Norstar’’ on page 15 for more information.

1.

Press and enter the internal number of the telephone you

 

want to program.

Press twice.

Choose a setting at Handsfree: using the CHANGE button.

There are three ways to set handsfree for an individual telephone:

Handsfree:None

 

Handsfree is not available to the telephone.

You can make or answer a call without having to

pick up the handset or press the button labeled

 

handsfree/mute. The internal microphone and

 

 

 

 

 

 

speaker of the telephone turn on automatically

 

 

when you press a line or intercom button to make

 

 

or answer a call.

Handsfree:Std

 

A standard version of handsfree described ‘‘Using

¤‹fl›flhandsfree/mute’’ on page 65. Not available for

CHANGE

T7316E telephones.

 

 

 

 

This prompt appears if you attempt to use

Need Handsfree

 

 

handsfree or headset and the telephone not been

 

 

configured with Auto under Handsfree.

 

 

For other displays, see ‘‘Common feature displays’’ on page 253.

Both Auto and standard handsfree allow you to use a headset with a Norstar or BST telephone.
