Replacing a Module

To remove and replace a module, follow the steps below, Refer to Figure 2- 13.

1Busy-out or reset the module. (Busy-out is recommended.)

2Label all cords (if they are not labeled already) and then unplug them from the module.

For information about labeling trunk and extension cords, see Chapter 3, “Installing Telephones and Adjuncts” and Chapter 4, “Connecting the Control Unit to the Network Interface.” For instructions on checking unlabeled wiring, see “Checking Unlabeled Wiring” in Chapter3 of the Maintenance and Troubleshooting guide.

3Run a demand test by entering the test mode.

4Power down the system, if required. See “Powering Down the System,” later in this chapter, for instructions.

5Remove the module by pushing up firmly on the tab at the bottom rear of the module.

6While holding up the tab, swing the bottom of the module towards you and away from the carrier.

7Lift up the module to disengage it from the rod on the top of the carrier.

8Inspect the module for visible damage.

9Insert the new module. See Figure 2-10.

10Restore the module. Refer to Chapter 7, “Initializing and Testing the System,” for instructions.

11Connect the trunk and extension cords.

12Attach a tag, error printout, and any information that will help identify any visible problems or failure symptoms.
