Carrier Problems

Typical carrier problems include power supply failure, sudden failure of one or more modules, or system problems that cannot be isolated to a specific module. If you find a problem with the carrier, it must be replaced; carriers cannot be repaired in the field.

Removing the Faulty Carrier

1 Remove the control unit housing.

If you need instructions, see “Removing the Control Unit Housing” in Chapter 1.

2 Backup system programming.

If you need instructions, see System Programming and Maintenance (SPM) (for disk backups) or Appendix D, “Backing Upwith a Memory Card.”

3Power down the system by turning off the components listed below, in the order given.

aPower supply on the basic carrier

bPower supply on each expansion carrier

cAuxiliary power units (if present)

4 Unplug the control unit from the AC outlet.
