Testing Analog Multiline and

Single-Line Telephones

To test the basic operation of analog multiline and single-line telephones, follow the steps below:

1If you are testing a multiline telephone, press an lCOM or SA button.

2 Pick up the handset and wait for dial tone.

3Dial the extension number of another working telephone.

You should hear ringback on your telephone and ringing at the called telephone.

4At the called telephone, have someone pickup the handset; verify that you have good two-way communication.

5At both telephones, hang up.

If you are testing a single-line telephone, this is the end of the procedure.

6If you are testing a multiline telephone, press an outside line or SA button.

In Hybrid/PBX mode, make sure that the destination telephone has a personal line or is a DLC operator.

a Pick up the handset and wait for the dial tone.

b If you pressed an SA button, dial the dial-out code.

c Dial the destination telephone.

You should hear ringback on your telephone and ringing at the destination telephone.

dHave someone pick up the handset at the destination telephone; verify that you have good two-way communication.

eAt both telephones, hang up.

7If the extension is toll-restricted, place a toll call. You should hear a reorder tone.
