Glossary

TDM

(time-division multiplex) Process where the transmission

 

channel is divided into time slots.

telephone power

Equipment that provides power to an individual telephone.

supply unit

 

tie trunk

Private trunk directly connecting two telephone switches.

timed flash

tip/ring

Contacts and associated conductors of a single-line

 

telephone plug or jack.

touch-tone receiver

trunk

A telecommunications path between the communications

 

system and the telephone company central office (CO) or

 

another switch. Often used synonymously with line.

trunk jack

See line/trunk jack.

trunk pool

See pool.

TTR

(touch-tone receiver) Device used to decode DTMF touch-

 

tones dialed from single-line telephones or Remote

 

Access telephones.

uninterruptible power supply

unit load

See UPS.

Measure of the power load drain of a module, telephone, or adjunct.
