Cleaning the Printer
Clean the following areas of both printers once each day:
vDeveloper area
vForms input area
vTransfer station area
vStacker area
vRear service area.
Clean the following area at least once each week:
vOiler belt. See ªCleaning the Oiler Beltº on page 86 for instructions.
Recommendations for Cleaning the Printer
vYou may need to clean the printer more often, especially before and after printing labels.
vThe following procedure speci®es that you unload forms from the printer before you clean.
±Unloading forms before you clean requires that you reload forms after you ®nish cleaning.

±IBM recommends that for normal,
vYou should clean the printer only with a vacuum cleaner that is approved for toner applications.
vYou need the following items to clean the printer:

±Cloth or paper towels.
To clean the printer, do the following:
1.Disable the host attachments. See ªEnabling and Disabling Attachmentsº on page 63 for details.
2.Separate the forms at a perforation below the forms guide on the transfer station.
3.Move the static brush to the left with your hand so that the forms fall back into the input area. Ensure that forms do not cover the
4.Advance the forms by SELECTING the NPRO pushbutton on the Display Touch Screen main window.
The END OF FORMS 078A message appears on the Display Touch Screen.
Note: NPRO is not operable if the Thread/Align Forms procedure window appears.
5.SELECT the NPRO pushbutton again.
