Primary Fault Isolation Procedures
5-Image Quality FIPs
Before entering the Image Qualit y FIPs:
1. Does the printer display an error message? If so, go to Section 2 FIP Flowchart and start troubleshooting
there.
2. Is the AC power provided at the wall outlet within recommended specifications?
3. Is t he printer properly grounded t hrough the AC wall outlet?
4. Is the printer located in an area where the tem perature and humidity a re moderate and stable?
5. Is th e printer located in an area tha t is free o f dust?
6. Is the printer located in an area away from water outlets , steamers, electric he aters, volatile gases, or open
flames?
7. Is the printer shielded from the direct rays of the sun?
8. Do es the printer have recommended space around all sides for proper ventilation?
9. Is the printer on a leve l and stable surface?
10. Is recommended paper stock being used in the printer?
11. Does the customer use the printer as instructed in the User Manual?
12. Have consumables been replaced at the recommended intervals?
13. Do you have access to QMS Engine Diagnost ic men u s a n d do you know how to use them?
14. A re all of the printer assemblies in place and are all of printer covers and doors firmly closed?
