Accounting

A feature of the mailing system that allows you to charge postage

 

to individual accounts.

AccuTrac™ system

A mailing and postage accounting system consisting of various

 

pieces of hardware and software. The hardware and software

 

work together to process your mail and record the postage

 

transactions necessary to track the costs and charge them back

 

to various accounts and/or customers.

Advertisement

Advertisements contain messages and graphics you can print

 

next to the meter stamp.

Alpha Keyboard

The part of the keyboard used to enter accounts and other set up

 

information.

Alphanumeric Text

Text consisting of alphabetic and numerical symbols that can

 

include punctuation marks and other conventional symbols.

Arrow Keys

The keys you can use to move to new menus, scroll through

 

menus, and select options.

Art Card Slot

A slot on the right side of the control panel on the mailing

 

machine which accepts the plug-in art card. The art card

 

contains ads, inscriptions, and permits.

Barcode

A series of vertical bars and spaces that represent a correct ZIP

 

code for the delivery address on a piece of mail.

BUDGET MANAGERTM

An optional enhanced accounting package you can purchase for

 

your DM series mailing system. It contains all the standard

 

accounting features plus allows you to create and store up to

 

3000 accounts, 50 operators, and up to 15,000 transactions. You

 

can also create customized reports, carriers and fees, and apply

 

budgets and surcharges to individual accounts.

Calibrate

The action performed which sets the scale at zero in order to

 

assure accuracy.

Carrier

The service that delivers your mail such as the USPS or Federal

 

Express.

Certified

Certified Mail is a service offered by the United States Postal

 

Service® for a fee in addition to postage. Sending Certified Mail

 

provides a delivery record that the Postal Service maintains for a

Certified Mail Rates

Class Key

Enables you to select the correct class for your mailing, for

 

example, First Class, Priority, or Express Flat Rate.

Press to clear an entry or, if no data has been entered, press to

 

take you to the previous screen.
