Maintenance of the reinforcement knives
Because the knivesof the reinforcement unit get sticky from the glueon the
reinforcement tape, they have to be cl eaned regularly. Youare r ecommended
toc lean the knives each time you have inserted a new tape r oll (see ‘Anew tape
roll’ on page 254) or when an error in the reinforcement uni t has occurred.
If you want to clean the reinforcement knives, you have to place them in su ch
a position thatall the parts that need to be cleaned are accessible.
Attention: Only use the original Cleaner K and Fixing Unit Cleaning Oil
(silicon oil) fromOcé, to avoid damage to the reinforcementunit.

▼Clean the reinforcement knives
1Press the on line button on the printer operatin g panel to put the printer off line.
The message ‘Offline’ is displayed in the status window.
2Press the left selec tion button to shift the fo cus to the ‘Folding’ men u.
A shadowe ffectis used to indicate that the focus is set to this menu.
3Select the ‘Clean knives’ option from the ‘Folding’ menu.
Then the reinforcement knives are pl aced in the correct position.
Note: When a job is running, the message ‘ Job interrupted’ appears. The
machine stops running after it has correctly finished the prints that were
already in the engine and the focus can be set to the Folding menu.
A pictureof the engine appears on the display with the side doorof the
reinforcementunit blinking.
4Open the side door of the reinforcement unit.
